"Desde 1972 formando mujeres íntegras"
Son ya 35 años de formar mujeres íntegras y por ello
queremos hacer una semblanza a manera de historia del Yaocalli.
En 1970 un grupo de padres de familia preocupados por la
educación de sus hijas en medio de un torbellino de rebelión social, deciden
unir fuerzas y recursos para poder iniciar un Colegio dirigido a niñas y
jóvenes de 5 a 18 años.
Se elige un nombre Náhuatl formado por dos vocablos: "yao"
que significa fortaleza y "calli", casa. Yaocalli
quiere decir casa de la fortaleza, aludiendo a las bases sólidas que se
pretende inculcar en las alumnas para que después puedan ser cimientos
fuertes de la familia y la sociedad. Congruente con esa idea, el escudo
heráldico dividido en dos campos, recoge la imagen de una fortaleza.
El 4 de septiembre de 1972 se inician las clases en la
colonia San Ángel; estas instalaciones pronto resultan pequeñas y es entonces
cuando se adquirió el terreno en el que actualmente estamos; con el esfuerzo
de los padres de familia se logra comprar el lugar e inician las tareas de
limpieza y adaptación. La situación financiera se ve muy difícil y gracias a
la gran calidad humana y generosidad de muchos padres de familia que
realizaron grandes esfuerzos, aún en su economía personal, se fue logrando la
construcción de lo que hoy es el Yaocalli.
En 1974 se construyen los edificios que hoy albergan las
aulas del Yaocalli y queda consolidado el personal académico y
administrativo.
Los siguientes años son de crecimiento y consolidación.
32 generaciones de alumnas egresadas de preparatoria, han logrado el
prestigio del que goza el Colegio en las Instituciones Universitarias, ya que
al recibirlas en sus aulas han podido comprobar el resultado del esfuerzo
realizado a lo largo de estos años.
En 1997 se puso "la última piedra" de la primera etapa: la
Ermita de la Virgen, que simboliza la coronación
del esfuerzo realizado y el inicio de una nueva época plena de sueños y
proyectos.
En 2006 se construye el kinder y nuevas canchas así como
la pista de atletismo.
En 2007 construcción e inicio de
la preparatoria UP
Campus Yaocalli.

"Educating true women since
1972"
It has
been 35 years of educating women who hold true to their values. This is why
we would like you to know the history of our school.
In 1970
a group of parents concerned about the education of their daughters in a time
of social turmoil, decided to join strengths and resources to start a school
for girls and young women from 5 to 18 years old.
A Nahuatl (Aztec language) compound word was chosen as the
school’s name: "yao" that means "strength" and "calli" that
means "house". Yaocalli means house of strength, referring to the sound
foundations the school seeks to forge in students, so that later in life they
become strong pillars in their families and society. Consistently with this
idea, the school coat of arms is divided into two fields resembling the image
of a fortress.
On September 4th, 1972 classes started in a house in San Angel. Soon this venue was not big
enough to hold the students enrolled; it is then when, with the effort of
many parents, the land to build the school was bought and the chores of
clearing and adaptation started. The financial situation was not easy. Thanks
to the high human kindness of many parents who shored up even with personal donations, the construction of
what Yaocalli is today got started.
In 1974
the two main classroom buildings were built and the administrative and
faculty staff was consolidated.
The
following years have been of growth and consolidation. 32 generations have
given the school its prestige as they have enrolled in the best universities
in Mexico and have performed very well.
The last
brick of the first stage was laid in 1977 when the Hermitage of the Virgin
was finally finished. This symbolizes the crowning point of many years of
effort and the beginning of a new era full of dreams and projects.
In 2006
the kindergarten premises was built as well as the running track and courts.
In 2007 the UP High School Campus Yaocalli was lounged with its corresponding remodelled building.
